Dear Calumet Community,
I hope that each of you had a healthy and happy holiday season. We have had many successes during this school year and we begin this semester with great momentum. The positive support that our students, teachers, and staff have received from the members of our community has been inspiring. During a very uncertain time, you have been Calumet Public Schools greatest advocates. Thank you!
I am excited to announce that our Board of Education has voted to set a bond election for March 2nd . Beginning last year, the board began taking input and working on a proposal that would fit the needs of the district and be fiscally responsible. The proposed bond will include the following:
New Ag Barn- Since the inception of the FFA program at Calumet, our students have not had a school barn for their animals. For our program to flourish, our students need a place to house their animals, work their animals, and work on showmanship. This facility will fill those needs. It will also be a facility our community can be proud of.
Air Conditioning in the gymnasium- Our gym is the heart of many of our school and community activities. We host a variety of events during the warmer months of the year. Air exchange is important for air quality during large gatherings. This addition would benefit our students and our community.
Locker Room addition at the hitting facility- Our softball and baseball teams need adequate locker rooms. Our students currently have no locker rooms in proximity to the fields.
The proposal will be for a 2,500,000 dollar bond issue. This proposition is a ‘NO Projected Tax Increase’.
I hope that each of you will continue to support the positive momentum for Calumet Public School on March 2nd. I will be happy to visit with you with any questions you may have. Please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Brandon Voss
